Jazz St. Louis in Bloom

Jazz St. LouisCongratulations to Gene Dobbs Bradford, Bob Bennett, and the staff of Jazz St. Louis, which has opened its expanded space national acclaim this fall. Since Gene  became director of what was then called Jazz at the Bistro more than a decade ago, the organization has grown into one of the most significant presenters of jazz in the country. Artists stay for most of a week, as in the old days. Two sets a night mean that you can hear something really out there in the late show. And the best musicians in the world come to play St. Louis. That will be even more true with the sparkling new expanded venue in Grand Center. Gene’s efforts to expand the educational programming of Jazz St. Louis mean that younger generations are not only meeting remarkable artists and learning from them, but that new audiences are growing up with live music as part of their lives. St. Louis has a great musical heritage and Jazz St. Louis is making sure that the city remains a vibrant part of jazz culture.
